We are a charity that uses cricket, and the spirit of the game, as a tool for positive social change in Rwanda. CBH harnesses the power of sport to promote reconciliation and tackle deep-seated social issues like gender inequality through specially tailored sessions run by CBH’s cricket coaching team.
Cricket Builds Hope is the successor organisation to the Rwanda Cricket Stadium Foundation (RCSF), which was founded in 2011 to build the country’s first proper cricket ground - the Gahanga Cricket Stadium.
Cricket Builds Hope runs 'sport for change' social programmes in partnership with charitable and corporate organisations, using the Gahanga Cricket Stadium as a base. We work across three themes: equality, empowerment and social cohesion.
We are currently running a programme with Resonate – a leading charity promoting female empowerment amongst disadvantaged groups in Rwanda – to develop a programme funded by Comic Relief and the Scottish Government that supports its long-term aims. CBH coaches lead coaching sessions that use the values of the game to teach women and girls about leadership.
We are also running a programme with Yorkshire Tea to bring the benefits of cricket to workers on tea plantations in rural areas.
