Apply for a grant
We fund cricket facilities and activities in Rwanda. This page explains what we fund, who can apply and how to send us your application.

Funding rounds
Spring round: opens 1 February and closes 1 March. We confirm grants by the end of April.
Autumn round: opens 1 September and closes 1 October. We confirm grants by the end of November.
We aim to decide within four weeks of each closing date. If you have an urgent opportunity that fits our priorities, email us and our trustees will decide whether to consider it.
What we fund
First priority – cricket facilities. Community cricket hubs, pitches, practice facilities and small building projects that help people play cricket regularly.
Second priority – cricket activities. Sometimes we fund cricket activities for a limited time, delivered by a trusted partner, where they clearly support our aims.
Grants are usually between £5,000 and £15,000, and each grant pays for a specific, agreed project. We welcome applications with other funding or in-kind support in place.
Who can apply
Not-for-profit organisations, community groups, schools and cricket associations working in Rwanda. We don't fund individuals or businesses. We work most closely with organisations that have a proven track record, including the Rwanda Cricket Association, Cricket Without Boundaries and the MCC Foundation, and we're open to others who can show they're credible.
What to include
Send us one to three A4 pages that cover:
the need your project meets and what it will achieve
your organisation and its track record
the total cost, the amount you're asking for and any other funders
your timeline
how you'll monitor the project and report on it
your safeguarding arrangements, if the project involves children or vulnerable people.
What we look for
A clear need – a specific gap in cricket facilities or access, with some evidence of why it matters.
Local support – backing from the community, schools or local partners.
A realistic plan – what will be built or delivered, by whom and by when.
A plan for the future – who will look after the facility and use it once the grant ends.
Impact – who will benefit, and how many people.
Other funding – match funding or in-kind support is viewed favourably.
What weakens an application
No clear link to cricket in Rwanda.
A large share of costs going on organisational overheads.
No plan for how the facility will be used and maintained.
