CBH SOCIAL PROGRAMMES
Women’s Empowerment Programme
The CBH Women’s Empowerment Programme helps lower income young women around the Gahanga Stadium to develop a leadership mindset and towards economic empowerment. The course combines workshops, cricket sessions and the formation of ‘savings teams’ with access to seed capital to help with small business development.
‘Urumuri’ Adolescents Programme
Urumuri means ‘‘light’ in Kinyarwanda. This programme supports adolescent boys and girls with critical life skills they need to thrive in school and later life. Learning is done mostly via cricket-based drills and reflections with our skilled community coaches. Modules include: leadership and agency, communication and teamwork, growth and lifelong learning, and sexual and reproductive health. We will soon be adding a digital skills component to the curriculum.

‘Kura Neza’ Re-integration programme
In Gahanga, too many young people drop out of school because families can’t afford the cost of a basic education. The Kura Neza Programme ensures that they can get back into school by providing the materials and fees that they need. It ensure that they stay there, and have supportive home environment, by working with their parents to help them increase their incomes and support their children, long term.
Yorkshire Tea Programme (Completed)
Our Programme with partners Yorkshire Tea took cricket to three rural areas of Rwanda. Here, children had access to very limited opportunities for structured recreation or sport. Now cricket hubs continue to thrive in each area, with dedicated coaches, cricket in schools and the benefits of
