WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME

DURATION: March 2018 - December 2020

FUNDING: Comic Relief and the Scottish Government

PARTNERS: Resonate

OVERVIEW: The focus of the programme was to use cricket to help unlock leadership potential of young women aged between 18 and 25 from low income families in the Gahanga area, 20 minutes from the centre of Kigali.

The programme covered topics including goal setting, problem-solving and teamwork with the workshops being consolidated on the pitch through cricket sessions.

Over the course of the programme, the goal was for participants to be able to see themselves as leaders and shift their mind-set from underestimating their abilities to believing that they can achieve more in life and in their communities regardless of their gender or economic status.
