RWANDA CRICKET RECEIVES ICC DEVELOPMENT AWARD

We are delighted that Rwandan Cricket has received the 100% Cricket Female Participation Programme of the Year award from the International Cricket Council for our Women’s Empowerment Programme.

The programme, implemented in partnership with Resonate and funded by Comic Relief and the Scottish Government, has been announced as the Global 2019 winner of the ICC’s award. We are thrilled that the ICC has recognised the initiative as an outstanding participation programme that introduces new female participants to cricket.

Since the start of the programme in 2018, around 190 women aged between 15 and 25 have benefited from workshops on business and leadership skills. The sessions use cricket to unlock the leadership potential of the women and reinforce the learning they have had in the workshop.

Recognition from the ICC is wonderful to see and reinforces our belief in the power cricket has to act as a tool for positive social change.
